This one sentence prayer ‘Next Year in Jerusalem’ is the centrepiece of every Passover Seder. Wherever Jews lived, no matter how terrible the circumstances, even during the Holocaust, the dream of returning to Israel and Jerusalem remained their sustaining hope. Today even in Israel, Jews still sing L'shana Haba'ah Birushalayim in recognition of the fact that they are still in a spiritual exile.
